bathtime!

i had my first real bath this week.
as you can see, i was a little worried when mama and papa told me the plan. don't tell them i said this, but those two have no clue what they're doing.
i didn't like my bath so much.
but i still managed to look adorable through the whole thing.

Grandma Jane

Last week Grandma Jane stayed with us all week. It was awesome. It was like magic fairies came in every day—she emptied the trash and diaper pails, cleaned every room in the apartment, including corners that have never seen a broom, ran errands, let Mama take naps, washed the dishes, did a million loads of laundry, and MOST importantly, held Ollie.

(look at them both laughing!)

Clearly, Ollie loves it when Grandma Jane holds him.
We really miss her.

So Freakin' Cute

That's all there is to say about that.

extremes

i met a new friend named miles. miles is HUGE! mama says he's off the charts in size for his age—something like in the 110th percentile! i started out in the 3rd percentile when i was born. but i'm gaining on miles... today at the pediatrician i weighed 7lbs. 13 oz. and was 21 inches long. mama says up to the 8th percentile for weight and 29th for length! maybe someday i'll be as big as miles is and then we can dunk basketballs together.

i also met miles' parents, petrie and jeseka—mama says they're the most generous people she's ever met—they've given mama and papa all sorts of gifts for me and lots of miles' outgrown baby goodies to borrow too. plus jeseka says she'll bring miles over and we can all go to the park together. mama's right—they rock!

confusion

papa learned a lesson the other day.

do not wear the sling when i am hungry, cause when i am hungry i want to do just one thing

and if i do not get to do that one thing then i get upset

papa told me he learned a similar lesson one day when he was making salsa, do not cut chilis with your shirt off....

Soccer with Grandma Jane.

Face painting fun!

Ollie even gets to meet cousin Kerry!

More Visits and Love from Ollie's Family

Tía Natalia can barely remember when her babies were this small.

Ollie's a little suspicious of Tío Sean.

But not Grandma Jane.

And he gets lots of love from his cousins Sofia and Matias!

More Visitors!

Ollie meets Talis...

...and Mike—who can't wait to party with him.

cousins?

so my papa's cousin asked an interesting question whether we were second cousins...so i decided to try google for the first time. this is what i found!
  1. Pick two people in your family and figure out which ancestor they have in common. For example, if you chose yourself and a cousin, you would have a grandparent in common.

  2. Look at the top row of the chart and find the first person's relationship to the common ancestor.

  3. Look at the far left column of the chart and find the second person's relationship to the common ancestor.

  4. Determine where the row and column containing those two relationships meet.
Common
Ancestor
Child Grandchild G-grandchild G-g-grandchild
Child Sister or Brother Nephew or Niece Grand-nephew or niece G-grand-nephew or niece
Grandchild Nephew or Niece First cousin First cousin, once removed First cousin, twice removed
G-grandchild Grand-nephew or niece First cousin, once removed Second cousin Second cousin, once removed
G-g-grandchild G-grand-nephew or niece First cousin, twice removed Second cousin, once removed Third cousin
