Catching Up

Since Mama has been completely slacking at keeping you all posted on Ollie's busy life, she's decided to just do a quick recap of the highlights of the last few months and then move on from there, hopefully with more regular postings. So sit down and make yourself comfortable, this is going to be a long post!

Ollie, what do you want to be when you grow up? What all little boys want to be:

Bus driver.

Train engineer.

Fireman.

Construction worker.

No, Mama, real construction worker!

Stay at home dad.

But not a coffee drinker! Yuck!

But his top pick might be a taco chef like his Papa!

Or maybe he wants to be a gardener.

This spring we went to a six week gardening class at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Ollie loved it! The first class we sat and sang a hello song and made name tags, and the whole time Ollie kept saying "i want a shovel!"

First we had a little fun.

Trying to climb trees.

With a little help from Mama he made it up one.

And then it was time to get to work.

Shoveling (yeay!)

And mulching were first.

Then we took a break to find some garden animals.

And also be one!

Then back to work with some planting.

And watering.

And by the end of the class session, our carrots were starting to grow. And our lettuce was grown enough that we could harvest some of it.

And try it, fresh from the ground! Yum!

But really it's all play and no work for this boy.

With lots of friends here in Brooklyn, our free time is pretty full of fun.

Speaking of friends, being homeless isn't all that bad if you've got a great friend to stay with!

You may have heard that our bathroom construction is moving at a snail's pace. It's really annoying for all of us, but one good thing was that we got to stay with Bridget and her dog Gracie for a whole week. Ollie (and Mama) had a lot of fun that week!

Ollie was a little wary of Gracie at first. (And thought the doggie door was for him.)

But Gracie was great with him.

(Probably because he fed her everything on his plate.)

And by the end of the week they were good friends.

Ollie even managed to wear her out a few times.

He also had a lot of fun doing yoga with Bridget.

And making chalk drawings in her back yard.

And of course we found some time to visit family too!

Trips to both Hershey and to Ohio!

Flying to Ohio, Ollie got his very own seat!

And did what all good seasoned travelers do—slept!

Ohio was a blast. Swinging with Grampa.

Watching TV in the recliners.

(It's even better on Grampa's lap.)

And boy, is Grampa hilarious!

Reading with Aunt Nikki.

Roughhousing with Uncle Matt.

Rocking with Grandma.

Sliding is always better with two.

And you can't take a walk by the river without feeding the ducks.

By the way, Grandma is pretty funny herself.

Ollie's cousins even found time amidst a crazy week of packing and moving to come meet us at the awesome Children's Museum in Cincinnati.

The balls that fell from the sky were Ollie's favorite.

The kids had a marathon day and wore themselves out.

But not so much that they couldn't rally for a group photo.

Then we traveled to Hershey one long weekend where we got to see even more of Grampa and Grammy, along with more cousins and uncles and tias!

More swinging with Grampa.

With a little advice from him?

Sliding with Grammy.

And cuddling too.

And cousins, cousins, cousins!

Aren't they just adorable?

Ollie is normally pretty cautious, but he will try anything if Matias is doing it!

Or Sofia!

And mealtime isn't just for eating, it's for laughing too!

Look Sofia, you can get addicted to the iPad too!

But if you can tear yourself away from it, painting is pretty fun too.

And if you don't have a mitt, a hood will do.

What great trips!

Action-packed few months, huh?

Sure wears a boy out.

Weird Science

Ollie got to the explore the World Science Festival today. He learned how to make and fly an "Ollie kite" (anything small is an Ollie thing anything big is a Papa thing)

After kites we went to Polytech to see some robots. Unfortunately Papa nerd as well as Ollie nerd was equally intrigued by the robots so we do not have pix of his favorites soccer ball kicking robots and bird and jelly fish robots but we did get a pic of this oneO

After the bots Ollie captured an alligator that was jumping out of the sewer

Chopsticks!!

Tomorrow Ollie gets to leave Ollie's new house. It's been a fun 2 weeks with new toys, new bath, new books, and a new experience - his first attempt at eating with chopsticks! We are definitely going to have to pick up a set for him.

Bye bye Ollie's new house hello ......?????.... to be continued

Sonnenblumen

i asked papa to find a good picture of mama to help me write this mother's day post. he told me this is one of his favorite pictures since it was taken within hours of finding out that I was growing in mama's belly. he said i was just a little more than a twinkle in her eye. do you think she knew I was going to be such a handful?

i woke up nice and early today to tell mama I loved her.... somewhere around 530. she wasn't ready but papa was ready to film it

mama i love you...see you at 10 o clock!
