Halloween Candy and Other Sweets

Ollie and Mama had all sorts of Halloween plans today and we were getting ready this morning with a big wholesome breakfast of Halloween bagels when Zadia's mommy called and said "hey, you guys wanna come over and hang out with Zadia today while I go pick up a new baby at the hospital?" Okay, well, it wasn't quite as easy as that for her—she actually birthed that baby with no pain killers—but a quick 4 hours later, Aiyana Eden, the sweetest Halloween treat ever was born:

And meanwhile, Ollie and Mama and Zadia and her Uncle Jude had a fun-filled day:

First there was dance class in the morning.

Then naptime. (Hey, you try getting two excited toddlers to sleep anywhere but their strollers.)

Then time to get our costumes on and go out for some parading and candy. Ollie was a monkey this year, rather appropriate since that's Papa's nickname for him and also he eats at least 2 bananas a day.

Uncle Jude was in charge of dressing Zadia.

At the parade, we ran into Ollie's friend Milo, who was also a monkey! They seemed a little non-plussed with each other.

However, Ollie was very excited to see this costume since he's obsessed with backhoes and diggers.

Then our little monkey practiced some climbing.

By the time the trick or treating hour arrived, little monkey was so tired we had to head home. Papa was pretty bummed we didn't get him some loot, but it was still a good day.

Tomorrow more posts of our Halloween escapades over the weekend.

Those Cute Kids Again

What's better than sharing a chair and a chocolate chip pumpkin cookie with your BFF?

Jump!

Ollie's figured out how to jump and he loves to practice.

Day Trip

Ollie decided we needed a trip out of town.

So he rented a zipcar and drove us out to long island for a little nature.

We did a little off-roading with the stroller.

But mostly it was picnicking and relaxing.

Enjoying Papa's chinese bun / empanada crossover invention.

Enjoying the view.

Really enjoying the bun.

Frolicking.

Watching Mama skip rocks...

And then giving it a try himself.

Posing.

Carrying big rocks.

And trying very hard to carry REALLY big rocks.

Oliver was here!

Ollie Has a New Cousin!

Meet the baby formerly known as Boots—this is Jack Leo:
(See more pictures of Jack here.)
We can't wait to meet you!

Extreme Makeover

Ollie decided that Mama's fashion sense is a little, well, nonexistent. It's okay, she does buy 4 of the same shirt in different colors when she finds one that fits. And also owns 5 pairs of the same jeans, and no other pants. Oh, and pretty much just wears black every day. So Ollie decided he needed to do a little research of his own.

He remembered that Mama's friend Rolf is pretty stylish, so he did a little surfing and checked out his blog...

Figured out what the cool kids are wearing...

And tried to replicate it as best he could.

Some Family Portraits

Ollie sure had a lot of fun with Grampa, Grammy, Sofia, Matias, Uncle Sean, and Aunt Natalia. Thanks for letting us all invade your house so last minute! We miss you!

Being a guy with the guys.

But he has a sensitive side too. (Apparently Ladies' Home Journal is funnier than you would expect.)

And a rare one of the three of us!

Some cousin chasing fun.

He really looks up to them.

Fun with Grampa.

And finally a hug for Grampa, after only 3 days of asking for one!

Batter up!

Remember when this guy learned how to swing? Well I guess no practice is the way to go. He is a natural. Ready for stickball on Ollie's street.

Ah, Summer, We Miss You Already...

A last salute to summer... pictures from a few weeks ago, our last trip to the beach this year. (Until we fly to Florida in February again.)

And the days of waterpark fun are also coming to an end...

But it's supposed to be 84 degrees this weekend... maybe we'll put our sandals on and get one last summer fling in?

Transit Museum

On a rainy morning, what's better than going to the Transit Museum?
Learning about the people who built and maintain the subway tunnels. (And pointing at all their hats.)

Then pretending you're helping to build a few yourself.

Practicing ducking the turnstiles... look at that form!

RUNNING in the subway car... the only place you'll ever get to do that.

And his favorite, driving buses! All only 3 blocks from our house!

Caught in the Act

While practicing his kissing.
(Thanks, Zadia's mommy for the pic.)
