birthday extravaganza

what!? are you serious? did i really turn ONE?

i sure did, and my birthday was awesome! it had all the things a little boy could wish for. let me break it down for you.

balloons

i love 'em. regular ones and giant silver one-shaped ones too.

presents
mostly i liked the wrapping paper and bags that things came in, but i also got some sweet presents from my wonderful friends.

this bag is so great. it rolls up into a little bee. i think there were some presents in the bag too, but mostly i've just enjoyed carrying this little bee around for the last week.

mama said she had weeble wobbles when she was little too! when i'm not carrying the bee around, i carry the weeble wobble.

and look! a book with my very own name on it! how cool is that?

and a garbage truck is a great present, but the garbage that is in the garbage truck is even better!

there were so many presents to open at my party that i had to open the ones from my grandma jane later that night.

and the one from my grandma ruthie and grandpa david too. i was pretty good at opening presents by then.

mama made my first cake for me.

i was a little overwhelmed by everyone singing at me.

i frankly wasn't too sure about it at first...

and i had to poke it a little before i deemed it fit for tasting.

but i finally decided to give it a try.

and by a few bites, i was a fan.

and what birthday is complete without a pony!? not mine! grampa and grammy sent me my very own and i love it. i've already figured out that if i press it's ear it makes horsie noises. and if mama says "ollie, where's your horsie?", i point at it. we opened it the night before the party so all my friends could ride on it too.

and speaking of friends—that was most definitely the best part of my party by far. we had big friends and little friends who came to celebrate with me. my little friends are cuter than the big ones, so i'll just show you pictures of some of them.

Ollie turns ONE!

He's grown WAY too fast from this amazingly adorable tiny bundle of cuteness...

...into this amazingly beautiful happy ball of energy, in only one short year.

We had no idea that it was possible to love you as much as we do, Oliver. Happy birthday our sweet sweet boy. You have made this past year of our lives so incredible.

Two Peas in a Pod

Ollie and Milo were born only one day apart, and at the same hospital. Although their mamas didn't know that until they met a few months later. Ollie doesn't get to see Milo enough these days—his mama had Fridays off for a while, but is now back, hard at work. So last weekend we had Milo over for a weekend playdate, and the boys had a lot of fun.

"where do you think you're going? we've got some things to do..."

"i'll pass it to you and then you shoot it in the goal"

Ollie's got a new favorite letter. And the face that comes with it just can't be beat.

Ollie's not a huge fan of standing. He can do it, but often Mama and Papa have to trick him into it—if he doesn't notice he's doing it, he can stand just fine. But if he notices what he's doing, he'll immediately sit down.
